What does it mean to “schedule a day of content?”It means IT’S TIME. You have to get comfortable being uncomfortable. It means it’s time for you to link up with a friend/fellow market partner/family member/etc and plan out intentional social media content. Overwhelmed and feel like skipping this part? Don’t. It’s part of your job description. Do you want to be successful with social selling?Guess what. You actually have to get social on social media! (gasp! I know!) Here are some exercises to help you plan. First, write down five Instagram accounts that you absolutely LOVE following. Go ahead…write them down right now. Now. Your job is to grade those feeds. What do you like about them? What don’t you like? How did you find them? What made you click “follow?” What inspires you about his/her feed? How often a day does he/she post? What are the top five things this person posts about? Are you influenced by this person and their content?Do they utilize IG stories or IG live? Okay, done? Now. Go to YOUR Instagram feed. And it’s time to grade it as a unbiased potential follow or consumer. What are you doing well? What are you doing notsowell? If you were truly an unbiased potential follow or consumer, would you TRUST you? Would you FOLLOW you?Would you ENGAGE with you?Would you be INSPIRED by you? If not—it’s time to make a plan. And shooting content is part of that plan! So. Here we go. Step one. Step One. Write down the five things you’re mostpassionate about and would love to bring to your social media/influencer brand. For example, mine are: 1. My kids2. Women in business3. Inspiring through words4. Fashion5. Monat Now. Let’s say I’m also passionate about politics and breastfeeding and bulletproof coffee and neck massagers and crime dramas. That’s all fine and good—I can be as passionate about as many things as I want. HOWEVER- are they always appropriate on my grid (grid = the first nine photos people see when the check out our IG profile)? No.Nope. That’s what IG stories are for, y’all! Your grid represents the five things you are MOST passionate about. And if you want to work your Monat business (go back to your WHY and your GOALS), it better be one of those five. If it’s not? Well. It’s time to reevaluate your commitment to the career, your “why” and your goals and make changes accordingly. But, for the sake of argument, let’s agree that Monat is one of your top five. Step Two.Plan content based around your five passions. Still not sure what this even means? I’ll break it down to easiest terms: Planning content means scheduling a photo shoot of yourself with multiple outfits, locations, scenarios and stories to “bank” for Instagram posts for the days you feel like doing nothing but sitting on your couch with your hand in your sweatpants watching Netflix. Does that help? Now. Logistics and FAQ. Do I need a professional photographer? Nope. You can do this with a friend and a cell phone. You CAN hire a professional photographer. If you aren’t comfortable in front of a camera or don’t trust anyone you know personally with a cell phone to create content? Then—yes. Maybe for your “launch content” you should hire a professional for the day. Where do I go to do this? Where do you always go? A coffeehouse you like? Do you spend most of your time working at home? Do you go downtown or to a park or spend a lot of time in your car? Where DO you go? Go there. Shoot there. What do I wear? Wear anything and everything you feel good in. My general rule for one day of content is a max of three outfits. You can wear the same jeans and switch up your shirt and shoes, you can wear leggings and a comfy leather jacket and tennis shoes—again. Whatever makes you YOU, wear that. Own that. Give me ideas of content. I’m clueless, and this is weird. Okay, no problem! You actually already HAVE your content ideas! Remember those five IG accounts that you love and critiqued a few pages up? Now. Look at your notes, make some notes, and get to work. Side note: Product spotlights, hair tutorials, etc should be part of your offerings on social media. Even if it’s as simple as showing a Dutch braid on your five year old daughter and using Monat hair spray to finish off the look, hair tutorials should be there somewhere. IG stories or IG live from time to time or actual curated posts in your grid. They should be there! What’s the point? Well. When you join Monat as a Market Partner, you are saying, “Hi! I’m (state your name). I’m a brand influencer for a hair care company. What do you do?” You joined Monat and want to smash your goals? You gotta own.this.job. Content shooting, posting engaging, inspiring, helpful content, and being social (yes, social) on social media is part of your job description. Get to it. I love your face and wanna see it more often.
Influence Gold Anytime you can post something that makes your audience get to know you more personally in a way that they can relate to - THAT is the best kind of post you can do. Maybe it’s sharing about a personal struggle you’re facing that others may have experienced in the past or might be going through now. Maybe it’s talking about something you’re passionate about (not MONAT) that others may share the same passion for. Maybe it’s just about your latest shopping score that others may be interested in finding out about themselves, while they also learn a little bit more about you. While a written story is ok, it doesn’t even come close to the effectiveness of a FB Live. Sure, it might be a little scarier for you to do but it’s the only real way to get your audience to connect to you on a more personal level. I urge you to do more FB Lives that aren’t even about MONAT, but about YOU and your story. Always remember to make things relatable to your audience. You don’t want them just watching you, you want them to see a little bit of themselves in you.It is WAY more important to sell yourself over any product you are representing. Because people are buying YOU first, and THEN the product. So your brand isn’t MONAT, it is YOU!
Written by Million Dollar Earner Sara Ewing-Reed:If you want to make MILLIONS in your business here is what top income earner Sara Reed does on a DAILY basis for her business! *I post on Instagram and FB once a day. If it’s not something about myself, the things I enjoy, clothes I wear etc. it’s about Monat. *I create ONE opportunity daily to interact with new people. Yesterday, I met a lady at the dog park. We connected on FB and I invited her to go to a “Paint My Pet” class in our neighborhood! Multiply those kinds of interactions by 30, and that’s 30 new friends I’ll have at the end of the month! *I spend 30 mins to an hour adding people to my prospect spreadsheet. I search Instagram hashtags, FB groups, FB invites attendees etc for people that would be QUALIFIED for my business. Are you active on social media? Are they well connected? Are they positive and stay clear of drama? Are they already posting about things they love? Then they go on my list! *I spend 30 mins a day engaging with people on my prospect spreadsheet. I comment on their posts, respond to their stories. I try to engage them in conversation by asking questions. “Where’d you get that? How was your vacation? What’s your favorite thing to order from there?” The purpose of this is to start getting eyeballs on ME. They start to sniff me out and check my profile. I continue working on sparking a friendship for about 30 days. If my efforts go unreciprocated I move on. *I spend an hour or so a day doing “reach outs”. Since I’m constantly adding new people to my spreadsheet and working on establishing friendships, I have a constant stream of warm people to ask if they’re open to checking out my biz or products. I do also ask people I’ve never spoken like influencers, by email. My goal is to ask 20 new people a day. 20 X 30=600. That’s 600 people I’m asking to check out what I do. 10% will say yes. 10% of that will jump on. I can expect 4-6 new MPs every month by asking 20 strangers a day. *I follow up with people that have told me no or expressed interest in the past. If you’re only asking one time, you’re losing your prospects to someone else. I said no for two months. Then I said yes. Thank God Jewely never forgot about me.*I record tutorial videos and edit them for IGTV. IGTV is so awesome because it’s all prerecorded videos! Just because I record it that day, doesn’t mean I post it that same day. I try to post one IGTV video a week. And in the future my goal is to do 2 per week, then 3 once I am more comfortable.*I collaborate with my local girls to get events on the books. We meet up at my house or local coffee shops and help each other with social media by taking pictures or capturing video. My whole local team is welcome, and yes that means you too! *I schedule events for the month ahead and start planning and inviting. In Dallas, I have venues booked and paid for through May. This holds me accountable to keeping events on my schedule. *I am constantly looking for new ways to connect with people outside of my circle. I search for local networking events, pop up shops, neighborhood meetups, girl gang brunches etc. FB and Eventbrite is a great place to find these types of events. I find 2-3 I really WANT to go to and get them on my schedule. This month I have an acro-yoga class with a new friend, paint my pet with a new friend, and a new neighborhood meet up. When I meet people face to face, I always add them on social media.*I run reports to see who the new people are in my organization. I run reports to see top VIP/MP recruiters are. I run reports to see my Flexships. I try to keep my thumb on the pulse of my business.*I check in with all my VIPs that have orders processing for the month and recommend new products to try. I look and see what they’ve been using and think about what other needs they might have. I’ve doubled my monthly PV by implementing this. Yes, some want it shut off, but most are happy to try new things! *I respond to text messages, emails, and FB messages after I take care of my personal business. MY business comes first. I’ve had to learn this lesson the hard way. Don’t sit on the team you currently have. There’s a 60% attrition rate I have to stay ahead of. If your people haven’t moved in spite of your consistent efforts to help them, it’s time to turn your focus to YOU.I know there’s more, but this is off the top of my head! Drop something YOU do daily to create a library of activity for your team! When people ask “what should I be doing” tag them in this post!
Events! As important as it is to get social on social media, it’s more important to plan and schedule an in-person business launch within a month of joining as a Market Partner.Yes, social media IS a huge factor in business success, and I’ll preach this to my dying days. But more importantly is genuine connection. Creating, cultivating, and maintaining quality face-to-face team building, trouble shooting, community and support. Events. There are probably a million and one ways to schedule and execute events. For lack of time and energy, I’m going to refer you back to the Hustle & Heart group to search “events” in the search tab to see hundreds of ways men and women on our team have done launch and team events. For this document, I’m just going to give you a few of my favorite ideas! Take bits and pieces, give each event your own flair and authenticity, but do it. Get out there. Schedule that event and make connections. Network. NETWORK for crying out loud! Ha! Ya know—it’s the job. Let’s not get so weird because social media is safe that we can’t smile at a person in real life and spend an hour or two getting to know them, mmkay?Event ideas:1. Standing invitation eventsThe first Wednesday of every month I go to a local coffee shop in town, and any MP from any team is welcome to join. We chat life and business and trouble shooting and content and hair and spend a few hours drinking coffee, encouraging each other, and laughing a lot. This has been the single most successful event I’ve ever put on. It’s an open door policy and builds community so well. I encourage all MPs to offer this in their area.2. Small business support eventsCheck out small businesses in your area that allow private shopping or events. They honestly don’t even have to be private if that’s not in your budget at this point. But think about this for a minute—what do you want someone’s FIRST impression of Monat to be? I want it to be a group of rad men and women who love gathering together to have fun while supporting another small business in the area. If you haven’t scheduled a launch event, I encourage everyone to start by checking out the local businesses in you area that you can support while you’re asking friends and family to come support you and your small business!3. At home hangs!Open door at your casa, friends! Reach out on social media or in person and invite friends, family, moms, other business owners, whoever you want to enjoy some good food, good drinks, and community. Bring the kids! Don’t bring the kids! It’s simply a way to get out from behind the computer and the phone and actually connect with people like in the olden days, ya know? It can be casual! Pajamas! Order pizza! No pressure! Just hangs. 4. Virtual partiesMaybe not the most successful because it’s the easiest to opt out of for potential MPs or customers, but if you’re dipping your toe into events and just cannot physically stomach hosting an in person event just yet, this is better than doing nothing. Create an event or a page on FB and invite friends, family, acquaintances, and make it quick and easy. Post “build up” content (product spotlights, fun facts about you and/or the company, hair tutorials, makeup tutorials, etc) in the week prior to your event and then on the actual night of the event, go live! Share your why. Share your reasons for building this business. Tell those in attendance “this company, this personal choice is so very important to me, and you are so very important to me, so I wanted to share this exciting career path with those I love. Your live video can be as short as 10 minutes! Then, offer to create a mix and match for those wanting to sign up, offer a dinner date to anyone who joins as a market partner to link arms and business launch together, etc. 5. 1:1 “out of love” date night. I call this the “itty bitty launch.” Prior to this event, you have to have a purpose, a plan, and a list. Let’s say you don’t want to do a “come one, come all” event, but you have a few friends/family members in mind that you would absolutely LOVE to do this business with. You’re going to think about that person, their talents, their gifts, their motive, their reasons for possibly wanting to join you in this business venture—to, in essence, partner with you. And then you’re going to reach out to them and ask them to dinner. On you. You’re dating your friend, sharing with them (completely out of love and not pressure or obligation), that you love this company, and you would love even more if you guys could work together. Lead with their strengths, not yours. Their reasons maybe why this would be a good fit, not how it would benefit you. This is a partnership, and you want to be careful with who you woo. Do it for the right reasons, and pour love and support into this person. And maybe, just maybe, the two of you can take on the world together, baby!6. Stylist Wash PartayyyyyIf you’re a hair stylist, this is your game. Your platform. You own this space! More than any of us! Do free blow outs in your salon! Have food, coffee, wine, tunes, share what you love about Monat while you’re washing and blowing out—you can even sign them as VIPs right there while they’re in your chair! This business is SO GOOD for you and your clients. You should be doing events all the time! Share that Monat love! It’s simply creating a safe, fun place where people can feel included and a part of a community. You don’t have to do a business “pitch” per se, it’s more about creating community in your area.
